1) Explain the art criticism processThe art criticism process has 4 steps: 1st Step: Describe the artwork, this means think about the colors and the shapes you used as well as think about how you would describe the piece to someone who has never seen it before. 2nd Step: Analyse the artwork, list all of the design elements you've used such as color, value, line, shapeform, texture, space and proportion 3rd Step: Interpret the artwork, this means think about how the piece makes you feel as well as what ideas are represented 4th step: Judge the artwork, do you think your artwork came out the way you wanted, support your ideas with example from the piece 2) Critique an older piece
3) Illustration Fridays have been completed almost every week this semester, do you feel this assignment helped you brainstorm for main project or helped you skill levels in any way?
4) Do over: If given the opportunity, which project would you do over? Describe why and how you would redo this project. Reasons might include choosing a different theme, using a different medium or creating a different idea completely.5) Sketchbook: pick any warm-up from your sketchbook that you found beneficial, interesting or simply felt you handled well. Describe the activity and reason for selecting it above the others. Include photo.

ProsThe shadows are really dark in comparison to the paper color. Also the shading of the paper isn't the worst shading ive ever done. ConsThe shading in some spots isn't as smooth and the borders and shapes of the paper is kind of squiggly in some spots. ProcessI just used tape on both sides in the middle of each part of the paper and then I took a picture of it with the lighting I wanted so that I could draw it the way I wanted.
Pros
Cons
ProcessWe made a crown out of wire with spikes of various sizes. Then we painted it white which didn't even matter because then we covered it with red paper. The thing on my back was made by other kids. so idk
What warm up is proving to be the most helpful so far in your portrait piece?I think that the proportions warmup was the most helpful to me because before I didn't know where to put all of the facial features. Where to put the ears was especially helpful because before I had no idea. What did you find most surprising about the facial proportions and why?The ears were the most surprising part because I always thought that they were positioned higher on the head.
My piece shows off the theme of line because it has lines on the background and there are lines on the toucan that are supposed to look like feathers.
I really like the background of my piece but If i had to do it again I would make the toucan bigger because this would allow me to add more details to it so it would hopefully look better. |
